Occassionally we have to close the surgery for compulsory training.  When surgery is closed a telephone answer machine message will inform the number to ring if URGENT health care is required.

The Black Country Hub is working with Spires Health Centre to offer out-of-hours appointments at Portway Family Practice, Portway Lifestyle Centre, Newbury Lane, Oldbury B69 1HE

• Monday to Friday: 18:30 - 20:00 (Monday to Friday)
• Saturdays: 09:00 – 17:00 Saturdays

If you would like to be seen during these hours appointments can be booked via Spires Health Centre reception, or alternatively call The Black Country Hub direct during the above opening hours on 0121 612 3429.

This service provides a variety of appointments with GP's, Nurses, HCA.'s and Clinical Pharmacists.

This is not a Walk-In Centre but a physical appointment at an allocated time.

For medical advice when surgery is closed please ring 111. Your call will be answered by the NHS Direct team who cover out of hours.

Please note that when contacting them, your telephone conversation will be recorded.

Please avoid Accident & Emergency unless you feel that it is an emergency or a problem that a doctor can’t help with or requires further investigation (i.e. and X-ray)

Local Walk-in Centres

Walk in Services are available in Sandwell and Walsall.  Appointments are accessed via 111.

Please do not ask to see a doctor out of hours unless you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.

Call 999 in an emergency. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.

111 online is a fast and convenient alternative to the 111 phone service and provides an option for people who want to access 111 digitally. 

Your needs will be assessed and you will be given advice about whether you need:

• Treat yourself at home
• Go to a Primary Care Centre

If you need face to face medical attention you may be asked to attend a Primary Care Centre.
